Big Batch O' Sketches
Finished up the second sketchbook I've started while I'm out here. Finally getting to a point where all the studies are making it easier to just sketch for fun. Also, brush pens are magnificent.

Something I Owed a Friend
A painting I promised a friend from ages ago...finally just got around to making it. I'm a bad friend when it comes to promises of paintings.

Another Photostudy
Self explanatory title. Another photo study, but this time I'm paying attention to what I'm doing versus simply trying to copy. Things I looked out for here were concepts from Gurney's Color and Light as well as ideas I wrote down from Shaddy Safadi's lecture at MB a few months ago on designing shapes (from whose blog I got the photo).

Today's Studies
Two things to show for today: a portrait study off of some image on pinterest, and an exercise in using the lasso tool to quickly make environments, also done from an image on pinterest. If you know where to look, that site is a reference goldmine.

Sargent Study: Or How I Learned to Stop Being Complacent and Practice Portraiture
I'm awful with portraits. Sargent was a master. Following the train of thought, I'm going to be doing some studies of his works.
Arrrrrggghhhttt
The most time I've sunk into a piece yet. Not sure if it's better to do bigger works like this or more quick pieces. Either way, learned a lot about indicating form, color, and just generally developing a process. However, I need to do a lot of studies before getting back to personal pieces.

Moran Study
Took the time to sort through all the photoshop brushes I've collected, finally trimmed them down to a manageable amount, and then did a study of a piece by Thomas Moran to get a workflow for the brushes.
